Detroit 2010 Auto Show which has taken place from 11th to 24th January, 2010 is North America's biggest annual auto show in US car industry with an emphasis on smaller, greener means of transportation.
Detroit 2010 has witnessed the participation of more than 700 journalists all over the world, and also on the first two days of the North American International Auto Show, General Motors (GM) and Ford, as well as foreign rivals Toyota, Honda, Mercedes and others were set to display about 700 new 2010 models and concept cars. In addition, global carmakers hope to get US consumers back into the market after the past serious economic recession which pushed US car sales down more than 20 per cent in 2009 to approximately 10 million.
Hyundai Blue-Will Concept
Blue-Will, codenamed HND-4, promises an electric-only driving distance of up to 40 miles on a single charge and a fuel economy rating of more than 100 miles per gallon. The Blue-Will is also the fourth in a series of highly innovative concept vehicles to come out of the Namyang Design Center. Moreover, this concept car also features panoramic glass roof with solar cells for recharging batteries.
Toyota FT-CH Hybrid Concept
About 153 inches long, the FT-CH is around 22 inches shorter than a Prius, Toyota's new concept car kind of looks like a Pokemon on wheels. However, Toyota has not released any major details or specifications on the car yet.
Volkswagen Compact Coupe Concept
The combined fuel consumption, 4.2 l/100 km or 45mpg, and the CO2 emissions, 98 g/km, make this concept car remarkable considering its fuel economy. Additionally, the Volkswagen Compact Hybrid Coupe's top speed is 227 km/h (141 mph) and can reach a classic sprint of 0-60mph in about 8 seconds.
Honda CR-Z Hybrid Sports Coupe
Powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and electric motor, the Honda CR-Z Hybrid Sports Coupe has a maximum output of 122bhp, 128lb/ft of pulling power, and emits just 117g/km of CO2 on its combined cycle.
2011 Ford Focus
The next-generation Ford Focus has more affordable technologies and features, like the MyFord Touch in-car system, than its predecessors. The new Focus features a 2.0-liter gasoline engine for the North American market that features DI and Ti-VCT for enhanced performance and fuel efficiency.
GMC Granite Concept
Power for the Granite concept comes from a 1.4L turbocharged engine that is part of GM's new family of small-displacement, highly efficient four-cylinder engines that's matched with a six-speed transmission.
Audi E-Tron All-Electric Concept
The Audi E-tron is an all-electric vehicle, powered by electric motors producing 201bhp, which can get to 62mph from standstill in just 5.9 seconds. The 2010 Audi E-tron's top speed is limited to 124mph due to the battery life and it has a maximum range of around 155 miles.
Cadillac-XTS Platinum Concept
The Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept uses Cadillac's 3.6-liter V6 Direct Injection gas engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system to put out 350 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
